Trezor raises passphrase limit to 128 characters
In a Trezor Suite update, the maximum passphrase length increased from 50 to 128 characters. The passphrase complements the seed phrase and opens a separate wallet with its own addresses and balance. To use the new limit, users need to update the device firmware.
The company also recalled attacks on Coldcard: due to a firmware flaw, some devices generated seed phrases with insufficient randomness, allowing attackers to recover them. According to Trezor, strong unique passphrases helped some users protect their funds.
For a crypto holder, this means a longer passphrase can be set only after updating the hardware wallet firmware.
