Lisk shuts down its layer-2 network and plans to burn 5.2M LSK

On November 2, blockchain company Lisk switched off Lisk Chain, a layer-2 network built on Ethereum. The project, founded in 2016, moved to this network from its own L1 in 2024.
The portal and cross-chain bridge were closed first, while the remaining components are being wound down in stages, according to the company's blog. The project will then burn about 5.2 million LSK from undistributed staking rewards.
The token itself will continue to circulate on Ethereum for future loyalty programs. The Lisk team is now focused on developing an international financial platform for businesses: invoicing, payment approvals and transfers in fiat and stablecoins.
For LSK holders, this means the token will remain on Ethereum, and part of the undistributed staking rewards will be burned.
